Amy Kuhagen - President

Hello!  My name is Amy Kuhagen and I am excited to introduce myself as the School Board President for the Deeper Learning Virtual Academy (DLVA); a charter school for the West Allis West Milwaukee School District.  Prior to my current position, I served as a board member since January 2023. My primary goals as the board president are to offer a parental perspective, advocate for staff needs and increase awareness and support for mental health issues for the students at the school.

Professionally, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker employed by PSG, providing school - based mental health therapy services in the WAWMSD. Personally, I am married to Mike, a firefighter / paramedic for the City of Wauwatosa.  Our daughter, Siena, has been a student in the WAWMSD since 5K.  She has attended DLVA since its inception and is currently in the 9th grade. Though our home address is in Milwaukee, West Allis and West Milwaukee are our communities where we tend to our everyday needs. Together with my family I enjoy cheering on the Bucks and Brewers, playing board games, traveling, watching movies and boating.

As a family we have experienced first-hand the successes, challenges and dreams for the virtual program.  The incredibly dedicated leadership and teachers continue to have creative and supportive ideas for the school's ongoing growth and success; resulting in confident, educated and mindful students with lifelong skills learned.
With now having 3 different perspectives /roles within the WAWMSD, I strive to be a relatable and honest resource as DLVA’s board president.  Please reach out at amy.kuhagen@att.net to share your DLVA ideas, needs or comments.  All are welcome!  Thank you very much.
